  1. Power in the Darkness is proudly defiant as the era that inspired "Up Against the Wall," "Ain't Gonna Take It," "Long Hot Summer," or "The Winter of '79," which level fierce disdain for social hypocrisy. So does the nearly five-minute title track and funk-rock tour de force, while Chris Thomas' production is as razor sharp as the band itself.
  2. Power in the Darkness is the debut studio album by English punk band Tom Robinson Band, released in early The UK LP had ten tracks. It included inside the album cover a stencil similar to the cover art, but with the album title replaced by "Tom Robinson Band"; it held the warning, "This stencil is not meant for spraying on public property!!!". The US release was packaged with a seven.

  4. TRB POWER IN THE DARKNESS PUNK VINYL TOM ROBINSON. Condition is Used. The vinyls play very well the do have one or two lighter scratches but overall in very good condition perhaps a bit better. The sleeve and inner sleeves are pretty worn. Dispatched with Royal Mail 2nd Class.
  5. Includes a bonus LP with songs from the singles " Motorway", "Rising Free." and "Up Against The Wall". The order of the tracks on the sleeve is not correct, with tracks A1 and A5 swapped. On the sleeve the band name is abbreviated as TRB, on the spine and the vinyl labels the full name is used/5(46).
  6. Power in the Darkness and Winter of '79 are rather political songs, but sense of humour is not lost in the monologue in Power in the Darkness. Up Against the Wall sounds like a punk song, both because of lyrical content and symplistic song structure. Almost ever song on this records is memorable, catchy, and, a right down to it, good song.
  7. This was an important album when released in Tom Robinson Band's "Power In The Darkness" was a clarion call to oppressed people everywhere to stand and be counted. This struck a chord with young listeners in England during that tumultuous time/5(57).
  8. Jul 04,  · TRB - Power In The Darkness One of the first albums I ever bought! I've got a vinyl copy of PITD with the bonus LP, and the Razor & Tie CDs if PITD and TRB2, so I'll have to hear the verdict on the live material before I decide to buy the box. TRB was great in ''79, and perfect for the times. Tom and his current band will perform.
